The Impact of a God-led Leadership on the Well-being of the Nation

Updated: Feb 10

As we watch the new administration making decisions demonstrating zeal for the country, care for its citizens, and an astonishing level of piety and devotion to God and His Word, our hearts rejoice and praise the Lord for the great things He has done in our nation. After a period of great darkness and uncertainty, it seems that the Lord has looked upon us and heard the cry of His people, granting us the grace of having leaders committed to the values taught in Scripture of freedom, equality, justice, and respect for the law. Indeed, this was the desire of the founders of this country, who wrote both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of America under a Christian worldview so that this country would shine the light of Christ on other nations.

The wise writer of Proverbs writes,

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: But when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. (Prov. 29:2 KJV).

Scripture teaches that the righteous are those who have their righteousness in the law of the Lord and are declared righteous by Him despite their own merits, but by the grace of God. Thus, when those who have their righteousness in God govern, the entire people benefit, but when the wicked are in charge of decisions, everyone suffers, even if they think everything is fine. The psalmist is also very clear when he declares,

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord [...]! Psalm 33:12a.

Indeed, a nation governed by leaders who fear the Lord and base their decisions on the Word of God is a nation that is increasingly approaching being a people according to Psalm 33:12, which have God as their Lord, and is therefore happy and blessed.

Let us be vigilant, constantly praying and watching so that God continues to guide the steps of the new government, from the presidency to the most varied bodies that make up the country's administration, because, as Paul warns,

Let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. (1 Corinthians 10:12)

May God be more and more the ultimate leader of our nation, for His glory and the good of us all.
